The Epson SureColor SC-P900 has an experimental profile in ZoroPrint: the RIP drives it, but its head geometry is borrowed from the SureColor P800 and not yet confirmed on a real P900. It is the widest printer on our list, A2+ at 432 mm, for 43 cm film. You need a DTF-converted P900, a Mac, Windows or Linux computer and a ZoroPrint account.
Why the SC-P900 is still experimental
Gutenprint does not include the P900, so the profile borrows from the SureColor P800 (Gutenprint model 130), the nearest documented relative.
| Item | Value in the profile | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Nozzles per channel | 180, 1/180 inch apart | SureColor P800 |
| Dot pitch per pass | 360 dpi | SureColor P800 |
| Start and end commands | Selects the “Standard” paper slot, then releases it | SureColor P800 |
| Drop sizes | 1.5 / 3.5 / 6.0 pl | SureColor P800 |
| Head offsets | 0 or 1 × 1/360 inch per channel | Gutenprint’s P800 ink set |
| Maximum width | 432 mm (A2+) | SC-P900 |
Only the width is the P900’s own. Our tests check every job with an independent ESC/P2 validator, but nobody has printed one on a P900 yet.
If you own a converted P900, print the channel test on film and send us a photo. Owners who do get a founder seat. The channel test never uses a Free job.
Where the white goes on the P900’s ten channels
The P900 head has ten channels. ZoroPrint sends data to eight of them, in the usual DTF kit layout:
- White, printed on top of the colour: LC (light cyan), VLM (vivid light magenta), LK (light black), LLK (light light black).
- Colour, printed first: VM carries magenta, C cyan, PK black and Y yellow.
- The other two positions: no data. A real channel test will show whether that is right.
On a 43 cm sheet the white underbase covers a large area, and white settles and clogs first. Four channels share it, so white has four times the nozzles of any one colour. The cost: four white tanks to stir and four rows to check.
We hold no firmware facts for the P900. Follow your conversion kit’s instructions. A conversion is done at the owner’s risk and ends Epson’s warranty.
Starting settings for 43 cm film
Start from the RIP defaults below; they are not tuned on a P900. This profile offers 720 × 720 and 1440 × 720 only, with no 1440 × 1440 mode.
| Setting | Start with |
|---|---|
| Resolution | 1440 × 720 (the everyday setting); 720 × 720 also offered |
| Sheet sizes offered | A4, A3, A3+, A2 (420 × 594 mm), A2+ (432 × 610 mm) |
| Ink limits per channel | C 80 %, M 80 %, Y 70 %, K 70 % |
| Total ink limit / GCR | 200 % / 60 % |
| White density / choke | 80 % / 0.1 mm, smart choke on |
| Screening | Error diffusion |
| Bidirectional correction | 0 (not measured on this model) |
A row on A2+ film is 103 mm wider than on an A3+ printer, so each gang sheet holds more designs. The RIP nests them and shows the cost per job.
What to watch for on a wide P900
- Channels out of register. Until a P900 confirms the P800 offsets, edges may show colour fringes. Send us a photo.
- Wrong colours. Blue or pink prints mean the channel map does not match your kit. Use the channel test and the “Wrong colours?” assistant.
- Banding. Follow the banding guide without its 1440 × 1440 step. No bidirectional correction is measured for the P900, so try bidirectional off.
- Weak white across a large sheet. Stir the four white tanks first. See white ink care.
- Jobs wider than 432 mm. The RIP refuses them before it sends anything.
Running the P900 from Mac, Windows or Linux
- macOS 13 or later, Apple Silicon and Intel; Windows 10/11 64-bit; Linux x64 (.deb or AppImage).
- USB, or network if your printer is on the network (raw port 9100). See the connection guide.
- No Epson driver, no dongle. The licence is on your account.
- Free: 30 print jobs per month, 1 computer, internet needed for each print. Paid plans print up to 30 days offline (pricing).
Few DTF RIPs list the SC-P900. CADlink Digital Factory 12 Desktop does not. AcroRIP’s list reaches the SC-P900, but AcroRIP is Windows only, with a USB dongle (comparison). BlackBox RIP lists the SC-P700/P900 on Windows 10/11.

- Is the Epson SC-P900 supported for DTF in ZoroPrint?
- Yes, as an experimental profile. Its geometry comes from the SureColor P800 and is not yet confirmed on a physical P900.
- What is the widest film the P900 takes?
- 43 cm. The maximum width is 432 mm (A2+ sheets are 432 × 610 mm); the RIP refuses anything wider.
- Why is there no 1440 × 1440 mode for the P900?
- The profile follows the SureColor P800, which defines 720 × 720 and 1440 × 720 only. Use 1440 × 720.
- How do I get a founder seat with a P900?
- Print the channel test on film and send us a photo of the result. It helps us confirm the profile for every P900 owner.
