- Up to 2 days: normal end-of-day routine and a wet cap
- 3–7 days: a purge strip every 2 days, by a helper or ZoroPrint keep-alive, or flush the white
- More than 7 days: replace the white in lines and dampers with cleaning solution and park on capping solution
- Restart: refill fresh white, prime the dampers, nozzle check, one cleaning at a time
A few hours (lunch, a slow afternoon)
- Leave the head parked on the cap. Uncapped nozzles can start drying in about 30 minutes.
- Before the next job, rock the white gently and print a purge strip (Printer tab → Maintenance → Add purge strip).
- Some users refresh the white dampers with a syringe after about 4 hours or more. Do it if your white is often weak after breaks.
Overnight and up to 2 days
- Do the normal end-of-day routine: swab cap and wiper, wet the cap, let the head park, cover the printer.
- If you have a stirrer or circulation, leave it on a timer.
- Next morning: agitate the white, rock the dampers and pull 1–2 ml from the waste line, then print the purge strip.
3 to 7 days
- Something has to move the white at least every 2 days. Ask someone to print a purge strip, or let ZoroPrint do it (below).
- If nobody can and the printer will be off, flush the white channels with cleaning solution before you leave.
- Restarts after 5–7 days without either often show several clogged channels.
ZoroPrint keep-alive
In Expert mode, Printer tab → Maintenance, tick “Keep white ink moving while idle” and choose the hours (2–72, default 8). After that long with no print, the app prints a 60 × 3 mm white strip per white channel, about 0.02 ml each. For a weekend or a week, 24–48 hours is a sensible setting. It only works with the app open, the printer on and enough film loaded for the strips. It moves white through the nozzles; it does not stir the bottle or clean the cap.
More than 7 days, or storage
- Run the stirrer or circulation for 15–20 minutes, then print a last purge strip.
- Replace the white in the lines and dampers with cleaning solution: fill the white tanks or cartridges with it and pull it through with the syringe on the waste line until it runs clear. Leave the system filled with it.
- Clean the cap and wiper, then park the head on capping solution.
- Store the white bottles sealed, out of light, at 15–25 °C. Leave the stirrer on a timer for any bottle still connected.
- Cover the printer. Keep the room from freezing and from going above about 30 °C.
Restarting after a long break
- Drain the cleaning solution from the white tanks.
- Refill with white you have just agitated (bottles 30–60 s end over end).
- Prime the white dampers from the waste line until white flows.
- Print a Nozzle check. Run one Head cleaning at a time and check after each. After 2–3, stop and look at the cap and dampers.
- Epson recommends waiting 12 hours between Power Cleanings. Many restarts succeed the next morning without more ink.
Room while you are away
- Humidity 40–60 %. Heating left on in winter dries the air; a cheap humidifier on a timer helps.
- No direct sun on the printer, and no frost. Both damage ink in the lines.
- Empty the waste bottle before you leave.
