ZoroPrint drives the Epson SureColor SC-P700, but the profile is experimental: its head geometry comes from the SureColor P800 and is not yet confirmed on a real P700. It runs on Mac, Windows and Linux and prints A3+ film up to 329 mm wide. You need a DTF-converted P700, a strip of film for the channel test and a ZoroPrint account.
What “experimental” means on the SC-P700
Gutenprint, the open-source driver we check every profile against, does not cover the P700. So the profile takes its values from the SureColor P800 (Gutenprint model 130), the nearest documented relative.
- 180 nozzles per channel, 1/180 inch apart.
- A 360 dpi dot pitch per pass. The L1800 and ET-8550 heads use 720 dpi.
- Its own start and end commands: the job selects the “Standard” paper slot first and releases it at the end.
- Drop sizes of 1.5, 3.5 and 6.0 pl, taken from the P800.
- Head offsets between channels from Gutenprint’s P800 ink set, not measured on a P700.
Every P700 job passes an independent ESC/P2 validator in our tests. A validator is not a printer, though: nobody has printed this profile on a P700 yet.
What you can do: print the channel test on film and send us a photo. Owners who do get a founder seat. The channel test is a maintenance print, so it never uses a Free job.
Ten channels: four for white, four for colour
The P700 has a ten-channel head. The profile sends data to eight of them: white in the light channels, colour where Epson put it.
| Channel | Role in ZoroPrint | Head offset (1/360 inch) |
|---|---|---|
| LC (light cyan) | White | 1 |
| VLM (vivid light magenta) | White | 0 |
| LK (light black) | White | 0 |
| LLK (light light black) | White | 1 |
| VM (vivid magenta) | Magenta | 1 |
| C (cyan) | Cyan | 0 |
| PK (photo black) | Black | 1 |
| Y (yellow) | Yellow | 0 |
The other two positions get no data from this profile. A channel test on a real P700 will show whether that is right.
Why four white channels matter: white is the ink that settles and clogs first. Four channels share it, so white has four times the nozzles of any one colour. It also means four tanks to stir and four rows to read in each nozzle check.
We hold no firmware facts for the P700. For the conversion itself, follow your kit’s instructions. A conversion is done at the owner’s risk and ends Epson’s warranty.
Starting settings for the SC-P700
These are the RIP’s defaults, not values tuned on a P700. Note that the P700/P900 profile offers 720 × 720 and 1440 × 720 only, with no 1440 × 1440 mode.
| Setting | Start with | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution | 1440 × 720 | The everyday setting |
| Other resolution | 720 × 720 | Fewer passes, so banding shows more |
| Ink limits per channel | C 80 %, M 80 %, Y 70 %, K 70 % | RIP default |
| Total ink limit | 200 % | RIP default |
| GCR | 60 % | RIP default |
| White density | 80 % | RIP default |
| White choke | 0.1 mm, smart choke on | RIP default |
| Screening | Error diffusion | RIP default |
| Bidirectional correction | 0 | Not measured on this model |
| Largest sheet | A3+ (329 × 483 mm) | A4 and A3 are offered too |
What can go wrong on a P700
- Colours out of register. The head offsets come from the P800. If edges show coloured fringes, send us a photo.
- Wrong colours. Blue or pink prints mean the channel map does not match your kit. Run the channel test and the “Wrong colours?” assistant.
- Banding. Follow the banding guide, but skip its 1440 × 1440 step. No bidirectional correction is measured for the P700, so try bidirectional off.
- Grey or thin white. The pigment has settled in one of the four white tanks. See keeping white ink alive.
- A design wider than 329 mm. The RIP refuses the job before it sends anything.
Mac, Windows, Linux — and the other RIPs
- macOS 13 or later, on Apple Silicon and Intel. Windows 10/11 64-bit. Linux x64 (.deb or AppImage).
- USB, or network if your printer is on the network (raw port 9100). See connecting the printer.
- No Epson driver for the job, no dongle. The licence is on your account.
- Free: 30 print jobs per month, 1 computer, internet for each print. Paid plans print up to 30 days offline (pricing).
Few DTF RIPs list the P700. CADlink Digital Factory 12 Desktop does not (comparison). BlackBox RIP lists the SC-P700, and it runs on Windows 10/11 (comparison).

- Does ZoroPrint work with the Epson SC-P700 for DTF?
- Yes, with an experimental profile. Its geometry comes from the SureColor P800, so print the channel test on film first.
- Can I print at 1440 × 1440 on the P700?
- No. The P700/P900 profile offers 720 × 720 and 1440 × 720 only. Use 1440 × 720 for transfers.
- Which P700 channels hold the white ink?
- By default LC, VLM, LK and LLK carry white; VM, C, PK and Y carry colour. You can change this in the Printer tab.
- What film width does the P700 take?
- Up to 329 mm, so A3+ sheets (329 × 483 mm) or narrower. The RIP refuses a job wider than that.
