The Epson L8160 is experimental in ZoroPrint: the RIP drives it, but its profile comes from the L8180 and has not been checked on a real L8160. It works on Mac, Windows and Linux, over USB or the network, without the Epson driver. You need a DTF conversion with white in the photo black and grey tanks, and one channel test on film to start.
The L8160 and the L8180 we measured
The L8160 is the A4 sibling of the L8180. The L8180 is the name the EcoTank ET-8550 carries in Europe and Asia, and it is the printer we measured ourselves in September 2026. On it we confirmed the channel map, the geometry, the scale and the head offset of each channel. We measured those offsets with a head-alignment chart on 23 September 2026.
The L8160 profile reuses those values: the same 180-nozzle head, the same six channels and the same XP-15000 print modes. The difference you see is the width. The L8160 prints up to 216 mm, the L8180 up to 329 mm.
One value is deliberately not copied. On the L8180 we also measured the bidirectional correction: +1 at 1440 × 720, 0 at 720 × 720 and +8 at 1440 × 1440, in each mode's units. That correction depends on the carriage, so the L8160 profile does not take it over. The RIP uses 0 for the L8160 until someone measures it on this model.
What we need from L8160 owners
Nobody has printed our channel test on an L8160 and shown us the result. If you own one, you can change that in five minutes.
- Finish the conversion and fill the tanks, following your kit's instructions.
- Print the channel test on a strip of film. Maintenance prints never use a Free job.
- Photograph the film and send us the photo. Owners who do this get a founder seat.
Where the white goes on an L8160
Like the L8180, the L8160 has black, cyan, magenta, yellow, photo black and grey. DTF kits for this family put the white in the photo black and grey tanks. The four colour tanks keep their usual inks. With two white channels, the RIP prints colour first and puts the white on top in the same job.
We do not say anything about firmware. Follow the conversion kit's instructions, step by step. A conversion is at your own risk and ends Epson's warranty.
First settings for the L8160
Use the RIP defaults for the first prints. Print the channel test, then a small test sheet, before you change anything.
| Setting | Starting value |
|---|---|
| Resolution | 1440 × 720 (720 × 720 and 1440 × 1440 also available) |
| Ink limits | C 80 %, M 80 %, Y 70 %, K 70 % |
| Total ink limit / GCR | 200 % / 60 % |
| White density | 80 % |
| White choke | 0.1 mm, with smart choke |
| Bidirectional correction | 0 (the L8180 values are not applied) |
| Screening | Error diffusion |
| Layer order | Colour first, white on top |
Problems to expect on an experimental L8160
- Channels out of register. The offsets come from our L8180. If the L8160 head differs, white shows past the colour edge on one side. Send us a photo of the print.
- Lines that vanish with bidirectional printing off. That points to the bidirectional correction, which is 0 on this model for now. The banding guide covers this and the other causes.
- Wrong colours. Print the channel test and use the “Wrong colours?” assistant in the Printer tab to fix the mapping.
- White that fades or clogs. White settles in the photo black and grey lines. The white ink care guide has the daily routine.
- Width. The L8160 takes 216 mm at most, so plan gang sheets for A4 film.

無料でダウンロードよくある質問
- Does ZoroPrint support the Epson L8160?
- Yes, as an experimental model. Its profile comes from the L8180, which we measured, but it is not yet confirmed on a real L8160.
- Is the L8160 the same as the L8180?
- No. It is the A4 sibling, 216 mm wide instead of 329 mm. The head and channels in the profile are the same.
- My prints have fine lines. Is it the profile?
- Maybe. The bidirectional correction is 0 on the L8160 for now. Follow the banding guide, and send us a photo if the lines vanish with bidirectional printing off.
- What happens if my channels are swapped?
- The colours come out wrong. The channel test shows which tank prints which ink, and the “Wrong colours?” assistant fixes the mapping.
