In short

For converted Epson desktop printers on macOS and Linux, PrintFab Pro XL (and its Linux sibling, TurboPrint 3) is the most established alternative to ZoroPrint. ZEDOnet has built printer drivers for decades: the Pro licence includes one custom ICC profile measured from a printed target chart you post to them, it lists the 6-channel ET-18100 and older Artisan 50 / P50 models that we do not cover yet, PrintFab 3 adds PrintFab Composer (with a Fixed-Size Layout Wizard, hotfolder, Photoshop plug-in and silkscreen halftone mode), and TurboPrint is proven on Linux hardware whereas our Linux build has not yet been confirmed on a physical printer. The trade-offs are price, tank flexibility and DTF-first tooling. White-ink DTF requires the top Pro XL edition at €199 (€139 Pro + €60 XL option) on one system, or €240.70 with the cross-platform option, and free updates run for 6 months (24 months as a paid option) before major upgrades become paid again. Tank assignment is fixed per driver variant — LC + LM on the L1800, Grey or the separate ET-8550 RIP driver (BK + PB) on the ET-8550 — with no arbitrary per-tank table or diagnosis wizard when a kit puts white in C + M. On white, ZEDOnet documents an alpha/threshold mask and white intensity under light and dark colours, without underbase choke in millimetres; on layout, there is no browser gang-sheet Studio or cost-per-transfer estimate. Pick PrintFab Pro XL if you want a mail-in ICC measurement, print on an ET-18100, or need a proven Linux driver today. Pick ZoroPrint if you want automatic white choke, any tank order diagnosed from a 5-minute film test, gang-sheet auto-nesting and a Free plan with updates included.
