In short
- Under 30 transfers a day and no patience for chips: L1800
- Speed and a newer head, willing to manage cartridges/chips: XP-15000
- Either way: run the channel test first, white goes in the light channels
Ink system
- L1800: ink tanks (EcoTank-style), no chips, refill from bottles. The simplest white-ink setup that exists.
- XP-15000: cartridges with chips. Conversions use refillable cartridges + a chip resetter or auto-reset chips. It works, but it is one more thing that can stop a Monday morning.
Head and quality
- L1800: the classic 6-channel DX5-generation head, 1440 × 720 in DTF practice, well understood, cheap to replace.
- XP-15000: newer 6-channel head with a smaller minimum drop; finer gradients and about 30–40 % faster at equal quality. Head replacements cost more and are harder to source.
White ink
- Both put white in the light cyan + light magenta slots (two white channels, which is what makes DTF viable on both).
- The L1800’s tanks let you rock the white easily; the XP-15000’s cartridges settle faster and need a daily shake or a white ink circulation mod.
Running cost
Ink costs are the same (same third-party DTF inks). The XP-15000 adds chip/cartridge wear; the L1800 adds nothing. Over a year the difference is under $100 either way — pick on workflow, not cost.
ZoroPrint support
The L1800 profile is verified as a family with the L805/L800 heads. The XP-15000 profile is built from its head geometry and marked experimental until enough users confirm it — the channel test and the “Wrong colours?” wizard work on both.
