Short answer

The Epson Artisan 1430, also sold as the Stylus Photo 1500W, is supported in ZoroPrint (not yet verified on hardware), on Mac, Windows and Linux. Both names are the same printer and use one profile. You need a DTF conversion with white in the light cyan and light magenta tanks, a USB cable and a ZoroPrint account.

Artisan 1430 or Stylus Photo 1500W: the same printer

Epson sold this A3+ printer under two names in different markets: Artisan 1430 and Stylus Photo 1500W. Inside, they are the same machine, 329 mm wide, with six ink channels. In ZoroPrint the profile is called “Epson Artisan 1430 / 1500W”. The RIP selects it when the printer reports “Artisan 1430”, “R1430”, “Stylus Photo 1500W” or just “1500W”.

So the name on your printer does not change anything in the RIP. A kit or a forum post for either name applies to both. The RIP also accepts “R1430” as a name for this printer.

Converting the 1430 / 1500W

The usual DTF kit for this printer puts white ink in the light cyan and light magenta positions. Cyan, magenta, yellow and black keep their places. Follow the kit’s own instructions for the conversion. We give no firmware advice, and a converted printer loses Epson’s warranty.

Then print the channel test on film, not paper. The profile’s ink table follows the cartridges in the carriage: Y, K, LC, LM, M, C. You should see yellow in block 1, black in block 2, white in blocks 3 and 4, then magenta and cyan. A different result means your kit is laid out differently. “Wrong colours? Diagnose” in the Printer tab fixes the mapping from what you saw. You can also change the ink of each channel in the Printer tab.

The 1430 has the same 90-nozzle head as the L1800, but the RIP does not drive it the same way. It uses Gutenprint model 82’s own dot sizes, and above 720 dpi it prints in 360 dpi passes. The other resolutions are 720 × 720 and 1440 × 1440. These 1400-family modes are not yet confirmed on a physical printer, so the profile is marked as not verified.

In practice, print the channel test and a small test sheet before your first paid job. Look at fine lines, gradients and the white edge. Then tell us what you see, with a photo if you can. Your result helps confirm the modes for every owner of this family.

Common problems on this model

  • Two names, one listing search. When you buy used, search for both Artisan 1430 and Stylus Photo 1500W. Both work with the same profile.
  • An old photo-printer head. A head that sat with dried ink may never print reliable white. Ask for a recent nozzle check before you buy.
  • White in the light channels. White pigment is heavy and settles. Stir it daily and print a purge strip every 2–3 days. See white ink care.
  • Fine lines across the print. No bidirectional correction has been measured on this family yet. Try a print with Bidirectional off, then work through the banding guide.
  • Colours in the wrong place. A blue or pink print is a mapping problem. Print the channel test again before you touch the ICC profile.

Compatibility

  • macOS 13 or later, Apple Silicon and Intel.
  • Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit.
  • Linux x64: .deb package or AppImage.
  • Connect by USB. The connection guide has the steps for each system.
  • No Epson driver is needed for the job, and no dongle. The licence lives on your account.
  • Free needs an internet connection for each print. Paid plans keep printing up to 30 days offline. See pricing.

The R1390 and the R1400 / 1410 are the other printers of this head family, with the same modes and ink layout. The L1800 shares the head family but is driven differently above 720 dpi and starts with white in M + C. For colour, read ICC profiles for DTF.

Frequently asked questions

My printer says Stylus Photo 1500W. Is this the right page?
Yes. The Stylus Photo 1500W and the Artisan 1430 are the same printer under two names. ZoroPrint uses the profile “Epson Artisan 1430 / 1500W” for both.
I am buying one used. Which name do I search for?
Search for both Artisan 1430 and Stylus Photo 1500W. They are the same printer, and ZoroPrint drives both with the same profile.
Can I use L1800 settings on the 1430?
As a starting point, yes, but the 1430 prints with model 82’s dot sizes and 360 dpi passes above 720 dpi. Print a test sheet before a real job.
Is the 1430 / 1500W verified?
Not yet. It is supported: the RIP drives it, but its print modes are not yet confirmed on a physical printer.
