UV DTF explained: permanent stickers for cups, bottles and hard surfaces

UV DTF puts a full-colour, waterproof, wrap-around sticker on a mug, a bottle or a laptop with no heat press. The workflow shares the gang-sheet, white-ink and nesting logic of textile DTF, which is why textile shops move into it quickly.

How it differs from textile DTF

  • Ink: UV-curable, hardened by an LED lamp instead of dried by heat. No powder, no oven, no press.
  • Layers: white underbase, colour, and a clear varnish on top that gives the gloss and the scratch resistance.
  • Film: two films — A (print) and B (transfer, sticky). The customer applies the sticker; you do not.
  • Printer: a UV flatbed or a converted Epson with UV inks and a UV lamp (L1800 / L805 conversions exist, R1390 is common) — not your textile machine.

File preparation

Same as textile: transparent PNG at 300 dpi. Two extras: outline or knockout the design so the varnish has an edge to follow, and avoid hairlines under 0.5 mm — they tear when the customer peels the B film. ZoroPrint’s preflight catches the second one.

Selling it

  • Personalised mugs and tumblers are the entry product: no minimum, high margin, ships flat.
  • Gang sheets of small logos for gift shops and bars — the same nesting you do for shirts.
  • Wall and window decals for local businesses, cut by hand with cut marks on the sheet.
